XRI’s John Durand Named Chief Sustainability Officer; Joins Energy ESG Council’s Board of Directors

HOUSTON, Apr. 13, 2021 – XRI Holdings, LLC (“XRI”), the leading full-cycle water management and produced water midstream company, announces that John Durand, XRI’s President, has been appointed to the additional role of Chief Sustainability Officer for XRI. In his expanded role, Durand assumes responsibility for XRI’s environmental, societal and governance (ESG) initiatives and sustainability strategy.

“John saw first-hand our foundational commitment to ESG back in 2013,” said Matt Gabriel, XRI’s Chief Executive Officer. “He has been on the front lines for us and knows how important this is to the company, our customers and stakeholders, and our communities. XRI remains committed to sustainable business practices in every aspect of our business, and John, as Chief Sustainability Officer, will keep us focused on these commitments and initiatives.”

Named to Energy ESG Council Board of Directors

In addition, John Durand has joined a group of leaders representing the Upstream, Midstream and Downstream sectors of the Energy industry – the Energy ESG Council (EESGC)– whose mission is to educate all stakeholders on the material attributes that point to greater sustainability and long-term viability of companies in the energy industry.

Durand’s experience and expertise will contribute to EESGC’s non-profit work to integrate all material stakeholder perspectives around ESG attributes and to establish a pragmatic and actionable “ESG” disclosure framework.

“I look forward to working with each of the Council’s board members as well as the EESGC’s advisory board,” stated Durand. “Being part of the Council is an honor, and I am looking forward to supporting and helping to lead the ESG conversation. One of the five beliefs of EESGC is creating a comprehensive disclosure framework that is material, transparent, specific to the Energy sector, and mutually beneficial to all stakeholders. Making this possible is going to be a transformational step forward in facilitating the reporting of specific ESG initiatives and metrics, geared toward ensuring the long-term success of companies in the energy industry and its respective Upstream, Midstream, Downstream and Renewable subsectors.”

XRI has been providing the industry with an environmentally sustainable alternative to the use of potable water for hydraulic fracturing operations since 2013. Over the next 12 months, XRI expects to treat and reuse in excess of 180,000,000 barrels of produced water throughout the Permian Basin.
